Please look at these girdled root pics. http://dallastexas.ezhoster.com/GIRDLED_MATURE_TREE.html
Would you even try to remove? There are no major roots on the side where the girdled root is, so I fear it will fall. I have started an organic soil and tree feeding program using the dirt doctor sick tree treatment. Only one of three arborists will touch the root, and I’m not yet sure of his plan. From what I’ve read, leave the girdled root portion that is touching the tree. Cut a section of the root out about 12″ to allow wound treatment of the cut end.
ever heard of hitting tree with a chain in order to improve growth ??
